The arrival of the eagerly awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, will now arrive later until 27 May 2026.

Originally slated for a 27 March release, the title is now set to arrive approximately 60 days past its original date.

A Much-Needed Return for 007

This project represents the maiden video game centered on the iconic British spy following 2012's 007 Legends, wrapping up a lengthy hiatus for the character in the gaming world.

"The game is entirely complete from start to finish," stated developer IO Interactive. "But, we are using this additional period to add more refinement and make certain it satisfies the demanding benchmarks of our players."

Development Particulars and Story Components

The game is in production in partnership with Delphi Interactive, a studio also responsible for another upcoming title.

Patrick Gibson, known for Dexter: Original Sin, takes on the role of a young James Bond in what is touted as a reimagined origin story.

The narrative details Bond as he is recruited into MI6 and is granted his prestigious 00 status, delivering a original plot unconnected to the films or books.

Star-Studded Talent and Mechanics Reveals

Enhancing the celebrity appeal, artist Lenny Kravitz will perform as the project's central foe.

Early gameplay trailers have shown shared mechanics with IO Interactive's hit Hitman franchise, while also highlighting the classic gadgets and spectacular moments expected from Bond.

However, a portion of the reaction on these trailers expressed issues over how the game looked, noting frame rate drops and excessive motion blur.

An Ambitious Undertaking

IO Interactive has labeled 007 First Light its "largest-scale project to date."

"Our team is sure this sets 007 First Light up for a strong future," the studio continued. "We are grateful for the understanding and continued support we've received."
