Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Classic Games
Much like the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases publicly declared for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
