'People are intimidated' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

It's clear why Arsenal are now numerous fans' favorites to secure the Premier League during this term.

Look at their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace compared to those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have beaten all of them in the current season, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive strength is a key reason why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title goal.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their danger from dead balls is widely recognized, but rival sides still don't know how to neutralize the Gunners from these situations.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is great to see."

Championship Claims

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City at home - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they maintain victories, their traditional rivals aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having spent around £250m on eight summer signings in quest of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the business has so far yielded results in style, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and having the tightest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Clean sheets in each of their last three Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now operating with confidence and purpose.
