Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to return for the upcoming Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Reunion for Fans
The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their appearance will take the form of a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.
Current Projects and Release Timeline
In other news, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
