Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Turdy Character on a Quest to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have encountered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer features a protagonist that is actually a dung attempting to make its way to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
How you interact is straightforward: press a one button to leap. Throughout numerous challenges, you'll face mini-bosses and access a store to buy outfits for your dung hero.
Execute your movements precisely, as a wrong move forces beginning again. Jump using floating orbs to launch yourself upward, navigate crumbling ledges, and activate switches to unlock secret routes. Gather coins for buying tougher game content in which the action gets crazy.
Visually, the demo features neon stages and a killer music score. The retro art with moving basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.
Although hard to recall previous releases where you play as a coiled turd, gaming often included scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from character waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content appears a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to launch on computers on November 19.
