Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
